Michael Alago   July 14th - August 9th
2007

Michael Alago knows from hardcore.  This is afterall the guy who discovered and nurtured Metallica while he was working in A&R.  For nearly two decades he was a music producer for such diverse acts as White Zombie, Nina Simone, and Michael Feinstein.  He traded all of this in for sweat, muscles, tattoos, cigars and jockstraps.  These are the ingredients for Michael's collection of photography entitled, "Rough Gods".  Alago's images celebrate the male form, often in an open and almost raw context.  Although these images are beautiful, the open treatment of the homoerotic subject matter will cause viewers to ponder the nature of beauty, the politics of love, and the role of tolerance in society.  His exhibit and book "Rough Gods", feature  men who are elegant, streetwise and muscle-bound, in searing portraits, some of which are full nudes.

Meet featured artist Michael Alago and view "Rough Gods" at the exhibition opening reception Saturday, July 14, 2007, 6-10 p.m. The opening is in conjunction with RAY AT NIGHT, San Diego’s largest monthly art event .
